Institute of Pharmacy was established in the year 2003 under Nirma University with the aim of developing able professionals in the field of pharmaceutical sciences. In a short span of time, it has become one of the leading institutions in the country, offering pharmaceutical education at the undergraduate, postgraduate, doctoral and postdoctoral level. Institute has been ranked 17th in India Ranking 2020 by Ministry of Human Resource Development, (MHRD), Government of India in its National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF). Institute of Pharmacy is ranked FIRST in GSIRF-2020 rankings by Govt. of Gujarat and the only Pharmacy institute in Gujarat with CGPI 4.5 from 5. The Institute offers B. Pharm, M. Pharm, Full time and External Ph.D and postdoctoral programme. The B. Pharm programme is accredited by National Board of Accreditation for three years (2019-2022). The Institute has adopted Outcome Based Education (OBE) to further advance the professional knowledge, inculcate employability skills in addition to development of character and social responsibility. To achieve the same objectives, vision and mission of the institute were also defined in line with the University’s vision and mission. The Institute has also defined its programme educational objectives and programme outcomes. The Institute has more than 9.0 crore rupees grant from government agencies and has collaboration with various research centers, industries and institutes in India and abroad. The Institute houses state-of-the-art instruments, like Supercritical Fluid Extractor and Chromatogram, HPTLC, HPLC, MPLC, GC, Fluorescence Spectrometer, Raman Spectrometer, UV-VIS-NIR Spectrophotometer, FTIR, DSC, ELISA, PCR, Electrophoresis, Texture Analyser, Automated Dissolution Apparatus, Extruder-Spheronizer, Multiple Diffusion Assembly, High Pressure Homogenizer, Particle Size Analyser, Microwave Synthesizer, Stereotaxic apparatus with Micro dialysis, etc. The Institute also has the software, like iWorx, eCTD, Design Expert, etc.The Institute has a two-storied animal house facility registered with the Committee for the Purpose of Control and Supervision of Experiments on Animals (CPCSEA), Government of India. Besides, there is also a medicinal plant garden “Nirma Herbal Wealth”, having an area of 3356.5 sq m with around 150 genera and 500 plants.
